Wifey Wednesday: Iggy Azalea, Drake & Rihanna, Vybz Kartel ft Pusha T, The Knocks, Flo-Rida ft Christina Aguilara, De-Lor + Nicki Minaj
It was nice getting back to finding music this weekend. It was especially nice to have about 3 weeks worth of material to choose from, just made my post organization that much easier. Of course I came up on enough decent material to get my hungry rap fiends their weekly dish on Sunday. I was also able to pull together a handful of quality mashups that were just made for Monday, alliteratively speaking of course. (side note, I can’t believe alliteratively is a real word and I have no idea if I just utilized it properly.) Tuesday was filled with some different solid weird shit, and here we are on Wednesday with a plateful for the wifeys. And by wifey material I just mean common ground I could see myself sharing with some lady friends from the past and present….It just so happens I know a lot of white girls.
I’m not gonna lie, I’m kinda down with the Aussie white girl swag. I don’t know all about that “mean” intro, but this beat is nice and she actually flows pretty decent in the second verse. I like Azealia Bank’s “212” better, still. But then again Iggy does advise, “this is for the bitches getting money up in here.” I’m disqualified in more ways than one.
Iggy Azalea – My World (right-click, “save as” to dl)
Forget the wifey, this is my jam right here. Think Gyptian, Serani, or any amazing reggae jam. I literally have trouble not winding it up immediately when this song comes on.
Vybz Kartel – Half On A Baby (remix) (ft. Pusha T) (right-click, “save as” to dl)
I think I’ve shared my fondness for Drake for various reasons in the past, so I’ll leave all that alone. But I do like his response to people calling him soft in “Lord Knows” and feel like pointing it out….
“I’m hearin’ all of the jokes, I know that they’re trying to push me
I know that showing emotion don’t ever mean I’m a pussy
Know that I don’t make music for niggas who don’t get pussy
so those are the ones I count on to diss me overlook me”
Drake – Take Care (ft. Rihanna) (Syko Remix) (right-click, “save as” to dl)
The Knocks just put me in a good mood. All their music is just so happy, it’s really nice. Especially with most of the depressing shit I usually listen to. Personally, I like this remix better than the original. Lucky me (and you), the remix is free……..I’m just
waiting for dreading the day someone figures out how to really end online sharing, or finally make it profitable and therefor non-inclusive.
The Knocks – Brightside (TheFatRat Remix) (right-click, “save as” to dl)
I have never heard one song go through so many official makeovers in my life. This is actually a pretty good remix. Christina’s got quite the voice on her.
Flo-Rida – Good Feeling (Official Remix) (ft. Christina Aguilara) (right-click, “save as” to dl)
So whenever I write a post I just continually listen through the list songs I plan on sharing over and over while I think of things to write (this usually lasts at least an hour or two). I’m not going to lie; I’m already sick of this song and not sure what really made me want to download it in the first place. But I figured it kinda sounds like a Taio Cruz song so some of my white girls gotta dig it, right?
De-Lor – Your Body (Sexy Ray Vision Remix) (right-click, “save as” to dl)
I found these a while ago and threw them on a playlist, but I never actually shared the links. Enjoy free remix music while you still can people!
Nicki Minaj – Moment 4 Life (ft. Drake) (DJ Kue Remix) (right-click, “save as” to dl)
Captain Cuts – Dancing With Avicii (Avicii // The Knocks) (right-click, “save as” to dl)
Wifey Wednesday: David Guetta ft Jennifer Hudson, Futurecop! ft Christian Rich, Major Lazer ft La Roux + Naughty Ne-Yo
In case anyone was curious, “Does Nicki Minaj like white guys?” is still a regularly occurring search bringing folks to the funk. However, this is NOT the most trending. That of course, would simply be “Nicki Minaj ass.” I can’t be mad at that, I’ve done my fair share of booty searches in my day. Most trending all time = Vida Guerra. Oh, you don’t know? Who are you kidding, yea you do. Ass took her to the top…of the most likely names to be searched before the word “ass”.
Hmmmm. This song sounds eerily similar to Rihanna’s “Only Girl”, no? David Guetta: King of the recycled club jam.
Futurecop! = Heavily electronic based version of the Black Eyed Peas B squad….or maybe E squad?
Not gonna lie, actually kinda excited to see what Major Lazer has in store at Chicago’s North Coast Music Festival. Slightly less than Common….just slightly.
I think Lil Jon could go over Kelly Rowland’s “Motivation” and I’d still dig it. Put the kiddies to bed for this one. Damn, Ne-Yo. This song makes Tweet look like Mother Theresa. Oops…keep them legs shakin’ ladies.
Wifey Wednesday: Lights Over Paris ft Game & Ty$ & YG, Matt & Kim ft Soulja Boy & Andrew W.K., The Weeknd + Digitalism
So I had a pretty productive day today (all of which came AFTER work of course). While waiting for a phone call after work, I stopped in the Sears around the corner and decided to do a little spontaneous shopping. Ended up spending a total of $80 while coming out with 5 new shirts. That’s bargain shopping right there boys and girls. Solid shit too though. Who knew Sears’ young men’s section was like a giant Zumies sales rack? After that I got a couple mile run in, gave myself a haircut (someone’s gonna have to check my neck line out though, shit’s gotta be fucked), and now I’m getting my daily blog post WHILE cooking dinner. Hold up, gotta check on my mac n cheese….
Mmmm, spirals are like a delicacy. I read an article today on HuffPost about how there may be underlying psychological issues at play in adults who are extremely picky eaters, often relying only on the foods they ate as children. While I do still love hot dogs and mac n cheese, I really think the only underlying factor in my case is that I’m just fuckin lazy and can’t cook for shit. Moving on….
I’m also trying to catch the end of the Sox game tonight, so I don’t have time to write a whole bunch about these songs individually. If I had cable in my new crib, that wouldn’t be an issue. I’m still up in the air if I wanna get it or not. On the one hand, 90% of television programs actually make you 100% dumber. Plus I wouldn’t be on this blog-post-per-day tear had I the luxury of sitting on my ass getting dumber. On the other hand, I don’t know how long I can keep up this pay-per-view like bar tab every time the Sox game is on. Shit, the Tribe just took the lead. I gotta get to the bar around the corner, I’ll be back….why am I talking to myself right now?
(2 hours later)
Damn. Well, at least the Twins came through for us. Thome coming up big. This blog is about music right? Alright, well let’s get to it…
I’m not a gangsta, I just keep it.
(sidenote: no one could figure out Ty$’s name so now he’s decided to go ahead and spell it all the way out. Sucks dude. That was so fucking gangsta before)
Converse got this thing where they put together a group of random artists and make a track together. Last year was Cudi and some other fools. This shit actually kinda works…I still don’t condone anyone listening to Soulja Boy though (smh at memories of myself “crankin that” on the dance floor back in college. Fuck it, I still killed that shit)
“Till you’re use to my face, and my mystery fades….I gotchu”….new mixtape “Thursday” coming soon!
I don’t know. Snatched this shit off Earmilk today, just kinda diggin the vibe.
(MP3): Digitalism – 2 Hearts
Wifey Wednesday: The Club Edition ft Cobra Starship & Disco Fries, Calvin Harris & Benny Benassi, Kap Slap + More
So I apologize to all my ladies out there who have no interest in this hardcore club shit. I’m not trying to discriminate, I got all of you. But this week I just came up on a lot more of this progressive/dubstep/”chill the fuck out” type club shit. I can’t lie though, when it’s not out of contral “womp womp” style, I can dig it. DJ’s, add em to the set.
So this next couple came off this DJ (?) Kap Slap mixtape called Audio Appropriation. I haven’t been out to the “club” much this summer at all. Shits expensive, not to mention pretentious as fuck. But I can’t lie, if I was out and already in the zone, I might be lovin’ life on the dance floor over this shit….maybe. Otherwise add it to the marathon playlist and chug it out to the bad ass beats.
The jury is still out for me on this dubstep shit. Some of it turns out really well. Then some songs have only short sections that turn out really well while other large chunks make me want to take a bat to whatever device is dispersing this “music” into the air. I don’t know, maybe it depends on the mood and the scene. But just in case any of you love anything that involves Khaled’s “Im On One”, or were surprised to hear this 2010 remix favorite,”I Love You So” sample on Watch The Throne….then here you go.
(MP3):DJ Khaled ft Drake & Lil Wayne – I’m On One (KillaGraham Remix)….ha, just got the name. These wannabe D-boys are so clever
Wifey Wednesday aka Guilty Pleasures: Mike Posner ft Rusko, Kelly Rowland ft Big Sean, The Weeknd, The Dirty Tees ft Natasha Bedingfield +Tom Hangs (Avicii remix)
I’ll admit it, I like SOME pop music….until it actually becomes POPular and then I go back to despising it. That’s not entirely true because I can actually like some songs a lot longer than others simply because I never listen to the radio. Therefor I have no idea, and do not feel the repercussion from, what is actually being shoved down people’s throats.
I actually kinda dig Mike Posner’s music. Dude has been producing shit for quite some time, and he’s definitely got a little different sound than most pop artists, both musically and vocally. It’s funny how he sings to the ladies…but for all the dudes.
(MP3): Mike Posner – Shut Up ft Rusko (updated link)
Kelly is winning over Beyonce in 2011, no? I mean, motivation has been that RnB Jam of the year so far, and I have absolutely no guilt in saying I still love it. This song here is a nice change of pace from the first single and will also garner a healthy amount of radio play. Although, I gotta admit after enjoying it the first couple listens, I’m kinda already sick of it. I’m sure the ladies can dig it though, and the dudes can tolerate it while they’re with em.
That Fragma joint was thee shit sophemore year of high school. Hell, it’s still a helluva throwback. Shot out to my guy Garmasta, ha. Shit takes me back. Natasha does em justice on this Dirty Tees interpretation.
I don’t really know what to say. I dig club jams with solid vocals and dope beats. Avicii been doin work.
Contrary to the title of the post, I have no guilt enjoying this here. You know this is my shit. The Weeknd’s voice is killing the game right now and this dirty instrumental was kind of wasted, in my opinion, with Drake’s recycled verses from “I’m On One.” Trust is a bitch. It really sucks when that trust is broken, especially off some stupid shit because regardless, you rarely ever get it back. I think that’s kinda the point with this one.
So I haven’t really been up on my shit lately, I know this. But I barely have time to think about what to eat for dinner lately, let alone sit down, search the infinite blogashpere of music, sample a minute 30 seconds of the fifty-some songs that stand out, download the best handful, listen and re-listen, and listen again, and begin to write, and continue to write WHILE listening until something meaningful comes to mind…..I don’t even feel like finishing this sentence. Seriously though, I want to get more good music out to the “masses.” And just because I don’t have the time to really write, doesn’t mean any dedicated supporters should have to suffer.
Regardless though, this type of music kinda speaks for it self. Doesn’t require as much interpretation as rap but still the necessary time and attention to truly appreciate. Good music that I would rock too. Great voices = good music most the time. Good lookin L-Boogie. This dude is bad. And them drums? Shit…
(MP3):The Weeknd – The Birds (pt. 1)
And Adele? Need I say more? Well maybe I do…Clubheads……kinda useless til’ the 1:50 mark to me.
Oh yea, this Tracy Chapman-soundin-ass dude (kinda?) kinda kills this acoustic musical masterpiece. I’m not gonna lie, might be the piano that really got me diggin it.. I mean, besides dude’s really good voice.
Wifey Wednesday: Beyonce ft Andre 3000, Shwayze ft The Cataracs, Iyaz, Mario ft Kelly Rowland & Lil Wayne, Rico Love, Verse Simmonds ft Kelly Rowland + Collin Mcloughlin ft Hendersin
So WordPress keeps track of all the hits I get from search engines and tells me what was actually searched to bring them to the Funk. Here’s one from yesterday; ”Does Nicki Minaj like white guys?”….Yep, this is my audience. (Simmons)
First up, Boo Thang. You know, because boo by itself was just a little too formal, not to mention way too suggestive. So “when your friends ask, I’m not your man, just the closest thing that ya have to a boo thannnng.” Seriously, we needed a new term for that “not so much baby girl” but more than “just a cutty buddy.” I’m not even being sarcastic, I know it’s hard to tell sometimes. But boo vision?
Next up, we gon’ put it down….I think. I’m actually kinda confused. Is he saying, “don’t put it down”? I thought you just said you love the way she put it down, Rico? Whatever, I like this one too. Something to juke to.
(MP3): Rico Love – Pick It Up
I feel like this might gain some steam. Not a huge fan, but The Cataracs got quite the hype goin for em these days and Shwayze is always up for a chill summertime jam.
When I saw the names Kanye, Andre 3000, and Consequence all attached to a Beyonce joint, you know I was pretty excited and eager to hear what came of it. Well, I’m pretty disappointed. But the ladies gotta love some new Beyonce, right? Btw, don’t be surprised if this song is removed from Hulkshare within about an hour of me posting this….
This really pains me to post, because it sounds exactly like every shitty pop/club song I hate. But seeing as though Wifey Wednesday seems to get the most hits on my blog (smh), I gotta give the people what they want. I really hope those people are strictly females. Don’t get it confused dudes, this is NOT that jam.
This guy Collin has a really nice voice. Pretty unique in my mind. You already know that new Khaled is the shit, and the beat is really what makes this joint. But I’m still diggin dude’s RnB interpretation with the switch of the theme.
This is easily the RnB beat of the year, in my opinion. I love this shit. Makes me wanna slow wind with a boo thang all night. Mario adds some killer vocals to the remix. I know what was motivating him in that Dancing with the Stars competition. Damn.
